Itinerary

Day 1: Lima

Reception, transfer and accommodation at the hotel. Night in Lima.

Day 2: Lima – Piura

Transfer to the airport to board the Lima / Piura flight. Reception, transfer to hotel. Depending on the time of arrival, visit to the artisan village of Catacaos, located 13km from Piura, beautiful handicrafts, goldsmithery, wood, ceramics. Recognized for its typical food, and the village of Chulucanas, land of the Vicus culture, characterized by Its ceramics, to the surrounding cultivations of mangoes and lemons of good quality. Overnight at hotel in Piura.

Day 3: Piura – Sullana – Ayabaca (+ – 06 hours of road)

We leave for Ayabaca, following a paved road lined with orchards. This part of the desert is irrigated by the San Lorenzo dam. From Tondora (old Inca bridge), the ascent of the mountain begins. The vegetation is rarer, the villages too. Overnight at hotel in Ayabaca.

Day 4: Ayabaca – Yanchala (+ – 04 to 05 hours of route)

We continue by bus to the town of Yanchala. Night at the locals’ homes. The town of Yanchala is the main access road to the archaeological complex of Aypate.

Day 5: Yanchala – Aypate

We require more or less than 03 hours to reach the ruins of Aypate, discovered by Humboldt in 1802, very interesting despite its condition. There are walls in carved stone, an obelisk, the viewpoint that allowed the Ayahuaca Indians to supervise the region. The fauna and vegetation are typical of the “Ceja de Selva” (orchids, deer, pumas, etc.). We spend the night not far from the ruins, in the house of a local.

We follow the ascent to pass from the Ceja de Selva to the Puna, where we can see animals like deer, condors, etc.

Day 7: Aypate – Las Lagunas de las Huaringas

We spend the day in Las Lagunas de las Huaringas, where a witch could perform a ritual. It is said that the water of the lake, generally calm and clear, becomes cloudy on stormy days. The Inca vestiges that we find in the surroundings make us think that the Inca came to bathe there.

Day 8: Las Lagunas de las Huaringas – Samanga

After a journey of 5 to 6 hours, we arrive at the village of Yanchala. Night at the home of locals.

Day 10: Yanchala – Ayabaca

We return by bus to Ayabaca. Night in hotel in Ayabaca.

Day 11: Ayabaca – Sullana – Piura

Return in private transport to Piura (6 hours).
Arrival in Piura, capital of the Piura region (border with Ecuador) surfers’ paradise, land of celestial sea and abundant fish and seafood, such as the Cabo Blanco beach, where Ernest Hemingway in 1956 fished for a month a black merlin, he was followed by a film crew for the project of his work “The Old Man and the Sea”, a project that he didn’t conclude.
