Itinerary

Day 1: Lima

Arrival in Lima, reception and transfer to hotel. Night at the hotel.

Day 2: Lima – Paracas + – 250 km, + – 04 hours of route

In the morning (08:00) we leave in a Land Rover in direction to the south of Peru, Paracas and Pisco, a desert region that reveals its own secrets to us, after lunch, as at 14:00 we enter the desert for 20 km, We take our mountain biking along a path that leads us to visit little known, hidden hieroglyphs among the dunes of the Nazca culture.

Day 3: Paracas – Ica Desert

Early in the morning we set off for a beautiful day in MTB (Full day in cross country) mixing the desert and the sea, always accompanied by our 4X4 support vehicle, we advanced through the desert of the region of Ica (place where the Dakar has passed in the year 2010), in the afternoon, we pass by the Bahía Independencia, at the end we arrive at the hidden port of Laguna Grande, south of Paracas, where we rest. Night at camp or in a cabin of a family of fishermen.

Day 4: Ica Desert – Paracas

We start pedaling north. The trip follows a slightly demanding line (cross country), on the Pacific coast, we cross several splendid beaches like Mendieta, Otuma to Lagunillas, free lunch (a delicious sea dish in the legendary restaurant “La Tía Fela”). Overnight at a hotel in Paracas.

Day 5: Paracas – Puerto Inca + – 360 km, + – 05 hours of route

In the morning, we visit the Ballestas Islands. Beautiful excursion on the Pacific Ocean, among pelicans, seagulls, guano birds, penguins and sea lions. In the afternoon, we transfer to Puerto Inca (old Inca port in southern Peru). On the way we stop to visit the oasis of the Huacachina, the wine vineyards, and a fossil museum in Sacaco, etc. Dinner during the route in the village of Chala. Overnight at hotel in Puerto Inca.

Day 6: Puerto – Camana + – 245 km, + – 03 hours of route

Early in the morning, we set off on a full day of mountain biking to visit the “Atiquipa hills”, the most extensive hills in the world with a great natural landscape, flora and fauna. Atiquipa is a hidden paradise, it is a green and blue break in the middle of the desert. Inca ruins and paths, secluded beaches, turquoise sea, lots of life and a spectacular olive oil. We visit the archaeological site of Cahuamarca located at the peak of the hills (1,264 meters above sea level) on an Inca trail that connects Inca Port with Cuzco (the capital of the Incas). This road was used by the chasquis (robust and athletic messengers / transporters of the time) to bring fresh fish to the Inca. The panoramic view is great. Return to the coast in the afternoon, travel in Land Rover Puerto Inca – Camana. Overnight at Camana hotel.

Day 7: Camana – Huambo – Cabanaconde + – 380 km, + – 05 hours of route

We depart from Camaná to Huambo, then mountain biking down a cross country road in the direction of Cabanaconde, we stroll through a beautiful landscape of the mountain range of the region of Arequipa, we observe a channel of 30 km that crosses the interior of the mountains of the Cordillera to Pampas Majes, the Colca river and its canyon. We arrive at Cabanaconde, night at the hotel.

Day 8: Cabanaconde – Cruz del Condor – Yanque + – 20 km, + – 02 hours of route

Transfer in Land Rover to the “cruz de condor” (+ – 20 km), we observe the flight of the condor that plays with the currents of wind. We returned to the colca canyon.
MTB cross country through the valley of the colca until arriving at Yanque, we take the right margin of the valley, place where cars do not pass, through the path we appreciate picturesque towns like Lari, Coporaque and Japay until arriving at Yanque. Night at the hotel «The House of the Beautiful Flower«.

Day 9: Yanque – Arequipa + – 170 km, + – 02 hours of route

Free morning. We can fully enjoy the thermal baths of Yanque. In the afternoon departure to Arequipa. Night at the hotel.

Day 10: Arequipa

Visit by foot to the city: the square, the cathedral, the convent of Santa Catalina, a small town in the urban area of Arequipa. Free afternoon. Night at the hotel.

Day 11: Arequipa – Cuzco +- 480 km, + – 06 hours of route

Always in Land Rover we continue through magnificent landscapes, we pass by the national reserve of Aguada Blanca at the foot of the Misti volcano, the imposing high peaks and the Andean highlands, the town of Espinar with its colonial constructions, Lagoons (possibility to do a tour of the 4 lagoons in mountain biking), then the town of Urcos, visit to the fabulous church of Andahuaylillas known as the Sistine Chapel of America, arrival in Cuzco, reception. Night at the hotel.

Day 12: Cuzco – Vallee Sacrre – Cuzco

Free morning. In the afternoon, we make the Inka Wakas MTB, we leave with our support vehicle to the site of Pukapukara, a small visit, then pedal passing through beautiful Andean fields in order to reach the hamlet of Yuncaypata, a short break. We continue the trail between small rivers and an Andean jungle, we arrive at the pre-Inca center of Chuqui (rarely visited by the tourists), fantastic place located between a small valley and an Inca astronomical observatory, we continue along the path until the viewpoint of Rumiwasi, Finally we arrive by the Inca routes in stone that takes us to the district of San Blas and its place of arms. Night at the hotel.

Day 13: Cuzco – Chincheros – Maras – Moray – Calca + – 01 hour route

We depart at 08:00 to the village of Chincheros, in Cruz Pata we begin our journey with mountain biking, during the trip we appreciate the beauty of the Andean landscapes, the lagoon of Huaypo, the terraces of potato cultivation, corn, various Andean tubers … We arrived at the archeological site of Moray, a unique amphitheater, formed by circular terraces that served as a place of experimentation of agricultural products for the Incas, then we go down to Maras, where we appreciated the impressive Inca valley with its mountain range in Snowed, looking down we watched the old salt mines. We start with a technical descent to the Urubamba river in the sector of Pichingoto, at this point we can start to pedal to the town of Urubamba, transfer to a cozy hotel in Calca.

Day 14: Calca – Lares + – 01 hour route

We leave early to Lares (4350 m), where we begin our adventure in mountain biking through the Andes to the valley of Lares. Optional to climb pedaling to the Lares {open} (it is a long and strong ascent of 3.4 hours going from 1,900m to 4,350 m). In the length of the route we observe the Andean communities in their typical habitat of the region, traditionally living in their stone thatched houses, surrounded by herds of alpacas and llamas. As we descend the landscape changes, the picture becomes a valley rich in colors and views of the mountains. In the afternoon, we take advantage of a rest in the open air, next to the thermal baths, spend the night in a modest hostel.

Day 15: Lares – Calca – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes + – 01 hour route

Transfer by vehicle to Abra Lares, this route is considered as the best downhill route in all of America. Mountain biking down an ancient Inca trail, spectacular, panoramic views of the Vilcanota mountain range, after 04 hours of descent we arrive at Calca in the Sacred Valley. Transfer in the direction of Ollantaytambo (+ – 50 km). We leave our mountain bikes and the Land Rover, here we give our farewell to the mountain bike team. Transfer to the train station, later in the afternoon, we take the train to Aguas Calientes. Night at the hotel.

Day 16: Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu – Aguas Calientes – Cuzco

Arrival at the foot of the citadel and ascension by minibus, up to 2300m altitude, where the long-forgotten Inca site is, intact at the top of a mountain in an absolutely grand place. Visit of the citadel. In the afternoon return to Cuzco by train. Reception and transfer to hotel. Night at the hotel.
