We head to the Kingdom of the Chachapoyas, we discover the ecological richness of the cloud forests, little visited villages. This trekking of the Gran Vilaya is a road really full of Chachapoyas ruins, we are talking about more than 5000 circular and rectangular buildings.
We pass through the archaeological sites of: Pueblo de los Muertos , Sarcophagi of Karajia, the staircase, the Pirquilla, sarcophagi of the cave of the secret, Vista Hermosa, archaeological complex Gran Vilaya, Paxamarca , Machullacta , Pata de Gallina to finish in Kuelap , Macro , Chachapoyas.

Itinerary
Day 1: Lima
Welcome and transfer to the hotel in the modern district of Miraflores. Night at the hotel.
Day 2: Lima – Jaen – Chachapoyas (+ – 3 hours by road)
Transfer to the airport to board the flight Lima/Jaén. Reception and private transfer, in a green landscape, to Chachapoyas. Installation, night at the hotel.

Day 3: Chachapoyas – Pueblo de los muertos – Sarcófagos de Karajia – Belén Valley (+ – 04 hours drive) (+ – 02 hours walk)
Private transfer to the province of Luya – Lamud. Walk to the archaeological site of the Village of the Dead (sarcophagi and mausoleums from the Chachapoyas culture). Back to Lamud (box-lunch), we continue through the villages of Cohechan, Chocta, to Pata Cruz to visit the unique sarcophagi of Karajia. These sarcophagi are located in a large cliff that is difficult to access. We then take our transport to the Belén valley. Campsite.

Día 4: Belén Valley – Zona Arqueológica de la Pirquilla – Pueblo de Congón (+ – 06 hours walk)
After breakfast, we start our trek from the Belén Valley towards the staircase, a pre-Inca road that leads us to the Pirquilla archaeological zone. This archaeological zone is part of the Grande Vilaya complex, which is lost in the vegetation of the great cloud forest, where we observe and visit various enclosures and chachapoya constructions, and enjoy its impressive flora and wildlife, followed by a box-lunch. We continue our trek to the village of Congon, where organic coffee is grown. Overnight with local people.

Día 5: Pueblo de Congón – Sarcófagos de la Cueva del Secreto – Vista Hermosa (+ – 06 hours walk)
After breakfast, we begin our trek to the Cueva del Secreto burial site. We follow the same route as explorer Gene Savoy to discover the sarcophagi on the cliff edge, the anthropomorphic funerary statues that protect the area. We then cross the Sinicachi waterfall, the village of Cuichimal and Yaulicachi before reaching Vista Hermosa. Campsite.

Día 6: Vista Hermosa – Hualmal – Tulic (+ – 7 hours walking)
After breakfast, the trek begins as we enter the foggy forests of the Gran Vilaya complex, observing the flora and fauna. We arrive at the hamlet of Tulic. Campsite.

Día 7: Tulic – Zona Arqueológica de Paxamarca – Pisuquia (+ – 08 hours walking)
Breakfast, walk to the archeological site of Paxamarca, where we can observe the typical circular constructions of the Chachapoyas and the rectangular Inca architecture. Paxamarca was of great importance as one of the main administrative headquarters of the Incas. Continuing our walk, we pass through small villages to the Pisuquia region. Here we camp.

Día 8: Pisuquia – Zona Arqueológica Pata de Gallina – Shubet (+ – 08 hours walking)
After breakfast, we begin our walk through the ecosystem of the area formed by the mountains that preserve and protect the flora and fauna of the Gran Vilaya complex. We visit the archaeological zone of Pata de Gallina, where we observe that the architectural tradition of the Chachapoyas culture is repeated in the basic circular houses. We continue our ascent towards the Jalcas mountain range, enjoying the mountains with their pre-Hispanic terraces and the fortified peaks of the Palacio, Asomada and Tres Picos apus. Campsite.

Día 9: Shubet – Yumal – Choctamal (+ – 08 hours walking)
After breakfast, we climb to the highest peak in the Amazonas region, the sacred mountain of Shubet, at 3,720 meters above sea level and offering excellent panoramic views. From the highest point. a petroglyph of great importance in the Chachapoya worldview: descent to the Yumal pass and then to the village of Choctamal, where we take a hot shower in basic accommodation. Overnight with a local.

Día 10: Choctamal – Kuélap – Tingo – Chachapoyas (+ – 03 hours walk) (+ – 03 hours drive)
Breakfast at the inn. Later, we move to the fortified citadel of Kuelap. We visit this majestic architectural work of the Chachapoyas. At its highest point, the walls are 20 metres high. The tour continues with a visit to the administrative, religious and living quarters of the large Kuélap citadel, which extends over a 7-hectare archaeological site. After our visit, we set off for the village of Tingo, visiting the Macro archeological site on a hillside on the right bank of the Utcubamba River, before concluding our journey back to Chachapoyas. Overnight at the hotel.

Día 11: Chachapoyas – Cocachimba – Gocta – Rioja – Moyobamba hike (05 hours round trip) to the Gocta waterfall
This spectacular waterfall is the highest in the country, and the third highest on the planet. We start our walk through sugarcane fields before entering the forest. We come across birds, hummingbirds, toucans and monkeys. The view of the cascade and its 3 waterfalls is magnificent. In the afternoon, we meet up with our mini-bus, which takes us back to Moyobamba to Waqanki Lodge, a small paradise for orquids, hummingbirds and butterflies.

Día 12: Moyobamba – Tarapoto
We visit Moyobamba, capital of San Martín department, and two orchid gardens. This region is an “Eden” of tropical flowers. We take our vehicle back to Tarapoto, stopping at the Ahuashiyacu waterfalls. Overnight at the hotel.

Día 13: Tarapoto – Lima
Transfer to airport to board Tarapoto/Lima flight. Pick-up, transfer and overnight at hotel.
